Social Equity and Green Economy
Abstract
Nancy Mary will address how to train students to understand the role of social work in sustainable economic and community development. The session will also explain how Cal Poly Chocolates, an enterprise project of the university’s Food Science and Nutrition Department, has sold over $40,000 of fair trade chocolates in one year. In closing, Simcha Udwin will discuss how she developed a book and educational materials re-use program which meets the needs of prison and jail education programs, while helping the campus reach zero waste.
