The Statistics Department offers a major or minor in Statistics, a cross-disciplinary studies minor program in Data Science, and a minor in Actuarial Preparation. It also teaches students in programs around the university who need to learn how to analyze data in their discipline or fulfill a general education requirement.
The department engages in research and scholarship and runs a statistical consulting service to assist faculty and student researchers around campus. Research interests also include developing new statistical methodology, pedagogical research, software development, and designing innovative courses and curriculum.
