Resolution Contents
Resolves that the Academic Senate will create four at large Cal Poly Solano Academic Senator voting positions; and it further resolves that of the four at large Cal Poly Solano Academic Senate positions at least one position shall be occupied by a Mariner; it further resolves that one of the four at large Cal Poly Solano Academic Senators will serve on the Academic Senate Executive Committee as a voting member; and be it resolves that the Cal Poly Academic Senate empowers the Faculty Senate of Cal Maritime to elect the faculty to these at large positions in the manner of their choosing; and it further resolves that the Academic Senate will in addition create one at large Cal Poly Solano voting position on each of the Academic Senate standing committees, which are: a) Budget and Long-Range Planning Committee, b) Curriculum Committee, c) Curriculum Appeals Committee, d) Distinguished Scholarship Awards Committee, e) Distinguished Teaching Awards Committee, f) Diversity Committee, g) Faculty Affairs Committee, h) Fairness Board, i) General Education Governance Board, j) Grants Review Committee, k) Instruction Committee, l) Research, Scholarships and Creative Activities Committee, m) Sustainability Committee, and n) USCP Review Committee; and it further resolves that the bylaws for the standing committees in the previous whereas clause will be updated to include the addition of these at large Cal Poly Solano voting positions; it further resolves that only employees at Cal Poly Solano who fall under the definition of the Membership of the General Faculty in the Constitution of the Academic Senate, Article 1, will be eligible to serve on the Academic Senate, the Academic Senate Executive Committee and Academic Senate standing committees; and it further resolves that only employees at Cal Poly Solano who fall under the definition of the Membership of the General Faculty will be eligible to vote for Cal Poly Solano representatives on the Academic Senate and the Academic Senate Executive Committee; and be it further resolves that only employees at Cal Poly Solano who fall under the definition of the Membership of the General Faculty can nominate Cal Poly Solano candidates for service on Academic Senate standing committees; and it further resolves that at large Cal Poly Solano standing committee members will be appointed to standing committees per the usual process, namely by a vote of the Academic Senate Executive Committee; and further resolves that in 2025-26 the Academic Senate will develop long term shared governance and representation plans in collaboration with the Cal Poly administration to ensure Cal Poly Solano faculty are included in shared governance at Cal Poly; and it further resolves that The Academic Senate shall develop comprehensive shared governance policies to include the General Faculty at the Cal Poly, Solano Campus that can be implemented with an estimated target date of July 1, 2026; and it further resolves that the Cal Poly Solano Academic Senate, Cal Poly Solano Academic Senate Executive Committee and the Cal Poly Solano Academic Senate standing committee at large positions will begin July 1, 2025; and it further resolves that the Cal Poly Solano at large membership positions and roles as described in this resolution shall remain in place until these new policies are implemented; and it further resolves that the Academic Senate welcomes Cal Maritime faculty and staff to the Cal Poly Academic Senate; it also resolves that the Faculty at Cal Poly welcome faculty and staff at Cal Maritime to Cal Poly; and finally it resolves that this resolution be distributed to the Chancellor of the CSU and the BOT, the Chair of the CSU Statewide Academic Senate, Chairs of Campus Academic Senates, and the California State Students Association (CSSA).
