About Praxis
Praxis is a student-run magazine seeking to create a collaborative space for individuals to engage with Philosophy. In Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle defines the term ‘praxis’ as distinct from other kinds of action as being an end in and of itself, rather than a mere means to some derivative product. This definition captures the vision our club has for Praxis, the magazine. Art in any capacity—whether literature, photography, music, or painting—is valuable not only for the product it yields, but for the process of creation itself. This magazine seeks to emphasize the value of the creative process in Philosophy, as well as to promote engagement with Philosophy through diverse and creative mediums. Praxis aims to foster deeper engagement with Philosophy not only within the major itself, but across the entire Cal Poly campus and beyond.
