The Polytechnic Journal, Cal Poly’s first student publication, debuted in 1906 as a monthly news and literary publication, highlighting stories on agriculture, mechanics, and the domestic arts, as well as social happenings, sports, editorials and "joshes".
By 1912, The Polytechnic Journalwas no longer a monthly, having evolved into the campus yearbook. In 1927, it was renamed the El Rodeo
