Abstract/Summary
The Climate Canopy Project has developed an improved solution for creating an adjustable shade mechanism tailored specifically for users of pull walkers. Through extensive research, goal setting, and a comprehensive framework our project has examined the challenges faced by individuals who rely on walkers for mobility. Our stakeholder requires a product that is lightweight, removable, and compact. This study dissected the designs of previous products on the market and aimed to build a product that aligns with our sponsor’s desires.
This report presents the main goals for the design and manufacturing process, along with key design features utilized to produce a solution for the project. Our team analyzed potential solutions through the development of computer-aided design (CAD) and developed a verification prototype. Throughout our model's development, we investigated factors such as materials, usability, and environmental impact. After testing and receiving feedback, our team successfully engineered a novel shade mechanism that meets our customer’s requirements. This report documents the analysis conducted on the verification prototype and outlines the manufacturing process. The significance of this project lies in the improvement of the user’s quality of life by providing a reliable, adaptable, and user-friendly solution to provide shade for walker users.
