Aims & Scope

The Journal of Threat Intelligence and Incident Response seeks to bridge the gap between industry and academia by providing a forum to share peer reviewed, relevant, and academically rigorous research that will provide a much needed scholarly source to support future research into the areas of cyber threat intelligence and incident response. Background: Research informs decisions, helps to prove or disprove theories, and grows and evolves industries by allowing others to build upon existing research, develop models based off of collective knowledge, and form new insights based off of previous analysis. The cyber threat intelligence and incident response industries are experts at research, but up until now that research has been difficult to use as a foundation for future academic research because it lacked a forum for formal peer review and publication that meets academic standards. The journal will also help to highlight research from groups who are underrepresented in traditional industry research, which leads to limited diversity of thought in both analysis and recommendations. These underrepresented groups including women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ researchers. We recognize the importance of diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and thought processes in intelligence analysis and acknowledge the cognitive biases and other negative impacts on the community that occur when these voices are not heard.
