Abstract/Summary
The San Luis Obispo Water Treatment Facility is a vital facility that provides water to all of San Luis Obispo. The facility runs twenty-four hours a day and constantly has long shifts for those who work there. The water treatment facility has a small, rusted Santa Maria grill that is rarely used because of its condition, and they were in need of a new grill that employees could use to make lunches. The water treatment facility has plans to build an outdoor dining space for employees, and my goal for this retrofitted grill project is to help enhance that space once it's built. The project is a retrofit of an old Santa Maria grill top that needs fixing. The grill top initially needed to be disposed of from another senior project. When I got the grill top, it was in poor condition; there was some rust along parts of it, and the wheel and hoisting mechanism weren’t operational. The body of the grill is a cinderblock box with a cavity in the center for the fire. The inside walls will be layered with fire brick to protect the cinderblock structure.
