Abstract/Summary
The Prague 2023 Summer Program is a Construction Management based program that allows students to travel abroad to the Czech Republic and increase their Construction Management knowledge. The eight-week program is hybrid and split between four weeks in Prague followed by four weeks of virtual learning. This program contributes to nine units that include: CM-426 International Construction Studies, CM-463 Senior Project, and CM-450 Integrated Project Design and Program Management. The main purposes of this case study were to (1) find and evaluate a construction project to be used for the Prague 2023 Summer Program and (2) create an assignment schedule to be used in conjunction with the project as a means of facilitating learning. Located in the Czech Republic, the Ostrava Concert Hall is an ongoing construction project that is evaluated in this project. The assignment schedule was derived using construction competition deliverables from past ASC Construction Management Competitions. Each weekly assignment corresponds with a deliverable for a full construction bid proposal. At the end of the course, the students will combine their weekly assignments into a complete construction proposal and present their proposal to the class as if their team was a general contractor bidding on the project.
