Abstract/Summary

This study involves the design of a non-invasive surface electromyography (EMG) band to estimate hand posture for individuals recovering from stroke and other neuromuscular disorders. The device is meant to measure forearm muscle activation to provide objective recovery data that can supplement traditional rehabilitation. Current EMG systems are often expensive, cumbersome, and difficult to use. The goal of this study is to develop an affordable, accurate, and easy to use solution that improves access to EMG motor monitoring.

The key stakeholders include stroke survivors, clinicians, and the project sponsor, Dr. Espinoza-Wade. This report includes project introduction, background, objectives, and project management planning. The design process, morphological analysis, concept evaluation, and final conceptual model are also presented.
