Abstract

The Turlock Chamber of Commerce Community Outreach project is a website and podcast to connect with community and local agricultural businesses. The goal is to give access to a reliable source of information about agriculture and facilitate a safe environment through podcast to discuss agriculture literacy. As the podcast continues to grow over time, it will become a pertinent platform for agriculture education and agriculture advocacy. As students, general public and local communities become more aware of the surrounding agricultural businesses and industries, so will their exposure to agriculture literacy. Accurate, clear, and concise communication is key to facilitating an honest conversation about agriculture literacy. Local agricultural teachers can utilize the podcast to promote their FFA Chapter. Local Colleges can promote their programs and course pathways as well as other scholarships. Above all, local agricultural businesses can inform the community about their sustainable practices, current industry trends, and career opportunities. Having both the website and podcasts with the support of social media allows for various learners to have access to the TCC Agribusiness Committee. The following report details the process for the website, development of a podcast, sustaining and expanding the project, and results.
