Between the Species (Philosophy)
Between the Species is a peer-reviewed electronic journal devoted to the philosophical examination of the relationship between human beings and other animals. While most articles are ethical inquiries, others raise issues involving metaphysics, epistemology and other areas of philosophical investigation. Between the Species is an open access journal: users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles.
About our back issues
Many of the articles from the original print version of Between the Species (1985-1996) are available on this website in Volumes 1-12. Articles from the original print version with compound issue numbers, such as Vol. 10, Nos. 3-4, are compiled into the leading issue number, e.g., Vol. 10, Issue 3. Complete issues of the online journal from 2002 to 2010 inclusive are compiled in Volume 13.

NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR THE INAUGURAL SPRING ISSUE OF SYMPOSIUM.
The deadline for this Spring 2014 issue is Friday April 11th at 11:59 p.m. We will continue taking submissions on a rolling basis for future issues.
Symposium: Student Journal of Science and Math is the student academic journal of the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Symposium was founded in 2013, and is published annually after the inaugural issue in Spring 2014.
Symposium is a student-written and student-run, open-access academic journal of science and math. The journal’s annual issues will promote discussion on the science topics that the students of the College of Science and Mathematics (COSAM) investigate in their classes, labs, research, and senior projects. Symposium also features students’ unique experiences through Cal Poly’s hands-on motto, “Learn by Doing.” Pieces submitted to Symposium are peer-reviewed by the Review Board, which is comprised of COSAM students.
