Abstract

The main components of the thesis are to challenge the typology of the skyscraper in the way that it engages the public, while criticizing the corporate nature of society through unusual broadcasting program adjacencies. The project also attempts to exploit the verticality of the skyscraper – not as a desire for tallness - but as an opportunity to create new and unusual programmatic relationships and interactions. At the same time, the tower goes beyond the tradition of rational expression in high-rise facades, taking advantage of the prominent visibility of the building as a mechanism for exposing how the public feels about the activities within the building and how they effect society as a whole.
