Abstract/Summary

In this studio we investigated the design and construction of a shell structure through form finding, form testing, and form making. By using a physics-based approach through Kangaroo on Grasshopper, we were able to create a form that minimized tension in the shell. Once a form was found, testing followed through full-scale construction. An iterative process between architectural engineering students and architecture students helped to create a realistic and elegant design.
