Abstract/Summary
The following interdisciplinary project was expanded from a summer internship with Holmes engineering firm. The project will present the gravity and lateral structural design that was part of a seismic retrofit of a residential building in San Francisco. The paper will investigate the Community Action Plan for Seismic Safety (CAPSS) in the San Francisco Bay that drove the demand for the structural retrofit, while evaluating the economic, political, social, and environmental effects of the following project and the San Francisco action plan.
