Abstract

This Master's Degree project created a water curriculum unit of instruction that could be used at the high school and community college level to inform students about water issues in California, both agricultural and municipal water. Upon completion of the water curriculum unit, students will understand how municipal water use affects water earmarked for California agriculture, overall fresh water supply, water policies & politics, and water diversion. The curriculum consists of three Powerpoint slide presentations that explain the scope of California's fresh water supply, California water politics, how politics influence water policies, and information about current legislation- including water diversion. A quiz has been developed for each section of the curriculum unit. Recommendations for student activities, and a comprehensive test complete the unit.
