Abstract/Summary
This project is my personal translation of the informational signs found inside the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum. The inspiration and intention for this project comes directly from my experience as a WLC student; Some of my previous assignments had emphasized engagement with our local Hispanic community in real-world contexts, which eventually became my primary motivation when deciding on the topic of my senior project. My goal is twofold: ensure that all San Luis Obispo residents can learn about the history of their home, not just English speakers; and generate more awareness, appreciation and patronage of this valuable but largely unknown resource. Through these translations, I hope to make the museum more accessible to the important part of my community that uses Spanish as their preferred (or only) language.
